Another things you can do with overshot to get a really neat effect is to have the tabby thread be a color different than the warp. Or even a different size. Here I am using some 10/2 purple cotton and some lavender hand dyed 20/2 silk.... I love this silk, but just don't have enough to do a project with it.
Up close you can see the tabby better. For this I have just treadles 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4 with four pick each. Gives it a soft feather-ly look from a distance.
