Woven Shibori Towels with Dish Rags

Here are three of my woven Shibori towels with their matching knitted dish rags. I am very pleased with the towels and even the way the dish rags took the dye. The towels are 8/2 cotton warp and weft while the knitted dish rags are "Sugar and Cream" cotton. I had a lot of fun weaving and knitting then dying.

On this dish rag I added an extra 'flower' to help when extra scrubbing is needed!

Knitting for Weaving

I have been away from my looms, but I have been thinking about them!

Here are some knitted cotton wash cloths to match a woven shibori towel I did. I am thinking I might keep knitting and make some more out of solid white. Then when I dye more towels at the next dye workshop I will dye the cloths at the same time and then they will match.

This is a knitted cotton dish or wash cloth pattern that my mom used to knit all the time.

More Bear

I did not knit or crochet these all in the same day. They work up real quick, use up left-over yarn and might make some little girls smile. At least I hope for a little smile.

Two Sticks and Some String

I have been working on a knitting project. It was fast and used up one ball of sock yarn! It is knit straight but looks like you knit on the bias. And, surprise - s-u-r-p-r-i-s-e - I made a mistake and ended up with a "V" that I can put in the back or the front. And don't you love that shawl pin. I got it in my goodie bag at Midwest Weavers Conference 2012.

A Little Needle Work

Not much weaving going on here. I have been playing with some yarn, though. Getting ready for some quick gifts I might be needing next month!

Just some green yarn I saw in my local 'box store'. It jumped into my cart and so when I got home I needed to turn it into something. I have a granddaughter who likes hats.... maybe she will like this?

Eye Candy - Sock Yarn

Here is a peek at some sock yarn that has come to live at my house. I just love knitting with this stuff. One of these days, I may even dye my own sock yarn like they do. It's Zauberball (made in Germany)by Schoppel... Love it!

And Then There Were Two - Socks

I don't know if you would call them socks. Maybe 'half socks'? Anyway, I knew what my daughter wanted so I knitted them and have mailed them and hopefully they will be at her house in time for her birthday.

Yoga Socks Continue

It's coming back to me.... knitting in the round. It has been a while since I have knitted a sock. But this is going much faster than a regular sock... no heel or toe! I did have to cast off and cast on in the round. Now that took some time to remember how to do that. (the casting on part). I went with the backwards cast on. What ever works, huh?

Knitted Yoga Socks

I had a request from dear daughter for some knitted yoga socks. So here I go.....maybe I will have them done in time for her birthday later this month.

 

 

I had to find the needles, find some yarn that she can put in the washing machine, and get busy. Not a very good 'girl' color, but they should do well in a washing machine.... 50% superwash wool, 25% bamboo and 25% nylon.

 

Yoga Socks = no heel or toe.

 

2nd Knitted Hat Finished

 

My yummy alpaca/silk/wool sock yarn has made (so far) two knitted hats. This is the second one. I started it yesterday and finished today. I combined a twisted stitch and a rolled rim and then got out the crochet hook and did a popcorn stitch around the edge. So much yarn, so little time!

New Knitted Hat

You know what happens when you knit one hat???? You have to knit another. It's a law. I am sure I read somewhere that you can't just knit one. Or was that you can't eat just one cookie???

And as you can see, I am still using my paper clip as a marker.

I kept thinking I needed some worsted weight yarn until I remember all this sock yarn I have. So I will be wearing my socks on my head.

I Buy You Toys

I buy you toys and buy you toys and all you want is the cardboard box!

 Somewhere there are some really neat markers, but when don't want to take time to find where you "put it"..... improvise. Paper clip to the rescue!

I needed a hat to play golf with my new golf clubs. Thank you DH, they are great!

Anyone for Left-over Socks?

Look what I found!!

I cannot believe I haven't finished these. I usually knit on socks while I am in a waiting room somewhere, but the last couple of months have been waiting-room free. A very good thing!! Good for me and my family members, not so good for my sock knitting.

I will put these on the back burner and continue with my MidWest Weavers knitting project. I am a little over half done with that project. I will unveil it in June.

So the socks will be waiting in the wings for when I need to do some sock knitting. Sometimes you just need to knit on socks!  And besides you never know when you will be stuck in a traffic jam on Highway 63 in rural Missouri. 

One time we waited about thirty minutes while they cleaned up a truck that had overturned that was carrying cows!! I got some quality knitting done that time because I had socks on the  needles!! Good for me, bad for the cows.

Festivas Sock Tree

Thinking I might need to take a deep breath and step away from Weaver Rose .... I decided to decorate for the holidays. (still looking for that temple)

I had to smile when our son called to say that his outside Christmas lights weren't working correctly. My outside decorations do not require electricity! 

This is some of the socks, that over the years have felted or lost their partner. The 'garland' is the left over yarn after I have knitted the socks. And the two big stocking are there just in case Santa can't find the chimney!

Weaving and Slippers

My inkle weaving tells that I knit socks. I knit slippers too!!

I sent off for a kit and expected to only knit two slippers. As you can see by the photo, I have knitted six........... and none of them match! This yarn has so many knots in it, that I wonder who the person was that had to stop the machine to tie all the knots. They had a work out that day. I have started on number seven, maybe it will match one I have already knitted.

Work continues on the overshot rugs. Reading up on how to finish the edges...........................

Knitting for Family

Not able to treadle, yet, so I have been knitting. I found this lovely yarn at the big box store in my town. They usually don't have a very good selections of yarns, so I was glad to find it. It's 53% wool and 47% acrylic listed as size 4 (medium). I am sure some family member will see this in December.

Another Knitted Felted Bag

Yep, I have made another one.

This one felted really well. While knitting with two different yarns, I tried holding one yarn in my right hand and the other in my left hand. I threw the yarn with my right hand (American style) and slipped the yarn off with my left hand (European style). It kept the two yarns apart and not tangled. I felted the bag, pocket and handles in the washing machine and let it air dry over a box.

I crocheted the flower and felted it in the kitchen sink. I added some sparkley light purple acrylic to the center of the flower.

Side Tracked

I usually have a small project on the needles for when a quick trip is planned and there will be waiting involved. While looking for a bag to put the blue sock project in, I found the one sock and it's mate (fall colors) hiding in a small tote bag... Now I have two small projects to finish. These are what are officially called  UFO's!

While not working on socks, I have finished another knitted felted bag.
