Advancing Twill sampling

Here I am still playing around with the advancing twill that has been on my Baby Wolf since the JOY workshop. This was a good experience for me. I dented my first 60 epi (ends per inch) warp! Since I warp front to back and didn't want to learn another warpping way, I had to figure out how to dent 60 epi. I knew I could put 4 ends in a 15 dent reed, but gosh.... how would I keep the ends in order..... so yes, I bought a 30 dent reed. Easy-Peasy! Of course some can't afford a new reed, but I had been saving and so I went for it!

And now I am trying to do 60 ppi (picks per inch). And of course still trying out different wefts. Lots to think about when working with a "new to you" technique.

More of - - Just Our Yarn weaving workshop

The Just Our Yarn weaving workshop was a great success. But who wouldn't love three days of Tencel and color and guidance and fellowship. We learned from each other and our instructors. A great weekend.

Weaving Friends

Always very kind, helpful, cheerful, loving, thoughtful, doting, warm, my devoted weaving friends awarded me a great gift for my time spent at the weaving workshop.

I am sure this is a new weaving tip or trick.... I will take names. (just saying)

"Just Our Yarn" Workshop

The great thing about attending a workshop is that not only do you learn a thing or three from your instructors, but you learn from each other. Like...some have the thread from the bobbin come over the top while others have that thread come off the bottom of the bobbin in their shuttles....or.... some use lease sticks and then leave them in or take them out when weaving, others don't even own any.

Here is Tomi using a great trick. She has beads with numbers on them and uses them to keep track of her treadling. Check it out.

If interested is this great yarn, you will have to catch these ladies at your nearest conference or schedule them. Lots of great tips and tricks working with color and Tencel. Just search for "Just Our Yarn".

Check back from time to time as I hope to have more photo's to post later.

Diva Pre-Workshop

Getting ready for the gals from "Just Our Yarn" next week for a workshop. I think we have our looms ready and are excited to begin. Twelve looms in Marilynn's studio is a tight fit.... but it will add to the fun!

New Weaving Book

The Weavers Guild of Minnesota has been busy. They have published a book called "A Thread Through Time: Modern Projects From Our Swatch Archives." It is a unique anniversary book that includes the story of the Guild, swatches and their patterns from their past 75 years. Forty-seven members got together to publish this full-color book. It looks to be a great addition to my library.

You might go to their web sight to check it out.

Patterns

At the Diva guild we were studying strips. Check out this crazy stripped pattern I saw while on our trip. I am always wondering how I can do this with my 8 shaft loom.
