Weaving Diva August 2016 Show and Tell

Another great meeting with the Weaving Divas. Sitting out on Carol's back porch was a real treat while we shared our latest weaving adventures.

Weaving Guild Meeting June 2016

Visiting with other weavers and seeing what they are working on is very enlightening. It gets those weaving juices going when you might be in a rut on what to weave. From the basic cardboard loom to the 8 shaft loom, see what we have been up to.

A new weaver! He wove this on his cardboard loom. It is awesome!! He chose the yarns to use and where to place them.

A new-to-us book. Lots of 'REP' info too. Thanks to Sam W. for sharing this.

Dawn and her family used some Oklahoma red clay to make a 'dye pot' and dye her t-shirt. She said it was very interesting and took a few days to complete the process but was loads of fun.

Katie has been at it weaving another blanket. Here she is showing the crocheted strips she used to connect the three panel blanket. 

Katie also wove some placements to go with some napkins she wove earlier. Outstanding! 

Vicki and her painted warps! The feel and drape is like butter. 

Vicki also shared her blue towels.   

Barbara loves to make different weaving tool. Here is a 'coffee stirrer' reed/heddle for a backstrap loom.  

Jane shared some wonderful hand spun mohair and alpaca.  

Jane also recycled some weft rags and wove a table runner.

I found my example of Theo Moorman. I made this small pillow with my sample. Katie gave a great program last month on this technique.  

Bo has been weaving scarves. They are 'yummy'!!

Bo also shared this very soft and beautiful blanket. 

Diva March Show and Tell

Wow, what a great program Marilynn gave on Broken twills.

Now for some show and tell from the March 2016  Diva guild meeting!

Tomi wove some towels for a charity event in her home town. We are sure these will bring a high auction price. 

Anita created a hat using her hand woven fabric for the crown.

Jan had these really cut small bowels woven on a small circular loom. 

Carol has been playing around with the JOY yarn. Great color work.

Kathy did some Rep weave for a table runner.

Kathy also wove some great kitchen towels.

Rossanna wove this beaded fringed moire scarf. 

February Weaving

One of the fun things about getting together with other weavers is to see what they have been up to. Here we have Rossanna, Marilynn, and Anita sharing.

Rossanna again wowed us with her Kumihimo weaving.

Marilynn has used silk/wool to create two beautiful shawls with awesome drape.

Anita has used her small pin loom for theses sachets. 

Novelty Guild Meetings

Ah, the new year is here and guild meetings are on again..

This Cabool guild doesn't meet in December, so we had a nice showing of show-and-tell yesterday. Our assignment since the last meeting was to weave with novelty yarns. We had quite a few who were able to accomplish that.

The rest of the show and tell from our August 2015 guild meeting in Cabool. So interesting to see how the weave structure of M's and O's was interpreted by these awesome weavers. And check out the cottolin Shirley and Larry used.  And who wouldn't want to plant their toes on Gayle's rugs?

Becky continues to play around with painted warps. Here is her M's and O's using tencel for a great scarf. 

Becky found these kits on the "Weaversloft.com" websight. Looks interesting.

Larry shared his cotton and cottolin Tree towels. Same draft, just different fibers. 

Vicki has more of her M's and O's tencel scarves. We think they are breading like rabbits at her house.

Shirley is working on hemming on of the towels she did. She has used cottolin and a snowflake twill. She had a bunch more towels but I missed getting a photo of them. 

Here we have our 'snow bird' Gayle with some rugs she has finished. This first one is made from loopers.

This rug Gayle used selvedges.

Using poly-cotton, Gayle wove this green rug.
