Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? While needing some new towels for "ME", and needing to check out "strips" for a guild project, I have garbed onto my dimity draft and done both.
My warp was red-white strips. My wefts were solid yellow, then solid red, then solid white. Same but different. I am presently tying onto this warp and will explore more. I am using a Loden (green) and dark brown..... More of the same but different! I will keep you posted!!

Beautiful. I'm a new weaver using a Cricket 15 Ridge Heddle loom. Can you tell me what kind of yarn you used to make the towels? I've made scarfs for EVERYONE and want to branch out a bit. Thanks for your help~
These are so lovely. I have a similar question. (c: Where do you get your yarn. I am in N. Arkansas, near Branson. I was given my first loom, rigid heddle, for Christmas, and can't find any adequate yarn for warping. I have some on order, but have experienced delay after delay in getting it to my house. I am ready to drive to springfield area, if need be. There sits that cute little loom, on my table, beckoning.
I have used 8/2 cotton for these towels. I usually get this type of yarn from Yarn Barn or Webs or Cotton Clouds. (And some other places.) But since you both have the rigid heddle looms you can find some yarns at you local walmart that will work for warp. If your store carries sock yarn, that would make up some nice runners. Try the ribbon yarns for some cool scarves. But if you want to make towels... I would order the 8/2 cotton and dent it 18 ends per inch. So now you know you "might" need different reeds too! Congrats on your new looms!!!
Oh yeah..you can't find any 8/2 cotton in Springfield. But if you can find some crochet cotton size 10 or 20, that will work. But is much cheaper to order the cones. To buy it by those small balls is very expensive. Size 10 would make nice towels. Size 20 or 30 crochet cotton would make nice table runners. But you also must 'dent' correctly too!
Oh! Nice work. I like how you combine colors.
Thanks so much for the help! Looking forward to adding towels to my weaving!
Thank you! I even have some crochet thread in my stockpile. I am dying to warp up w. something.
Love the towels
