Bronson Lace or Swedish Lace?

I think I have had this problem before between these two names. Bronson lace vs. Swedish lace!!

The kit I have is for the Lickety-Split Bathmat. (Yarn Barn-KS). The yarn is 16/8 Heavy Cotton. After some research, I found this draft information in New Key To Weaving by Mary Black:

The kit's draft is presented like the bottom example but tells me it is Bronson Lace. Mary Black says in her book on page 317:"Actually, there is so little difference between the finished appearance of Swedish lace and Bronson lace that weavers are at a loss to differentiate them."

Since, according to Mary, I am threading the loom to Swedish lace, I will call it that in my head. I might even call it that when I get it woven off and have it laying on the bathroom floor.

New Project - A Kit

I found a "kit" that I had purchased a while back and thought I would give it a go. Of course, right of the bat it told me to measure a 1.75 yard warp and not a 2 yard warp or I wouldn't have enough yarn. Who ever does a 1.75 yard warp? So I found some same size, different color, in my stash and wound the required 159 ends.

The next thing I did was enter the draft into my weaving software so I would know how many heddles I needed on which shaft. I found out that I need two more threads than the kit calls for. Humm.

It's called a "Bronson Lace" draft. Well, as you know I will have to research that and see if it really is "Bronson Lace" or not. But for now, here is through the reed.

I have cut the warp! Now to tied the fringe.

We Be Done

At the 29 inch mark. The tension is starting to rev up.

At the 37 inch mark. You can hear a pin drop from across the room.

Ta Da! We be done!!!!

Do you see? Do you see? Yes, I am nearing the knots on the back!!!  I don't usually take this long to finish a project. So far, I don't think there are any errors. But will know for sure after I weave the next few inches so I can get if off the loom and see.

This is my single two-tie woven on opposites without tabby Pink/Pink scarf.

Another Wrap

I found another photo that I think would make a great color study. Once I got to looking at this, I realized there are 'gobs' of different colors. I mean-I didn't even go to the red or green zones! Just check out the roof on this birdfeeder. Now that I look again, I see lots of greens.

 

 

Here is a wrap I came up with.  

Sunrise Wrap

I saw this wonderful sunrise and wondered if I could find a color pallet from among my yarns.

 

 

 

 

I like how this looks, but then I wonder what color for the weft. I like doing these color wraps, but never know how - in my head - to transfer it to a woven item. I can see this in plain weave or honeycomb. Texture-Texture. The soft pink is some of my very first hand spun silk. Now you know why I weave instead of spinning.
