Finished Woven Shibori Scarves

Here is the sample from the original scarf whose draft I used to weave these Shibori scarves. It had areas of twill, huck and plain weave.

The scarves have been washed, dried and ironed. (You can click on the photos to get a closer look.) If asked, I will say I used a very tiny paint brush to get the design on this plain weave fabric. (tee hee)

The Other Shibori Scarf

This is the second scarf I dyed at the Weaving Diva Dye Workshop. I used Burn Orange, Bronze and Chino on one side and Clear Yellow the back.

I am not sure where the Burnt Orange went, but I see the Chino, Bronze and the Clear Yellow. I would have thought that the Burnt Orange would be bolder than the Chino. Maybe I thinned the Burnt Orange to much. But that is half the fun. You really don't know what you are gonna get until it's done.

Shibori Scarf

One of the Woven Shibori scarves is finally dry and I was able to pull the resist threads. I used dye colors Dutch Chocolate and Dances with Raisins on one side. (how could you not pick "dances with raisins???")

The other side I used the dye color Nickel. Again this is before I have pulled the resist threads.

Resist threads have been pulled. Next step is to wash, dry and iron.

Some Results of Dye Workshop

I was able to dye three warp chains and two woven Shibori scarves at the dye workshop. This is 8/2 Bamboo and I used Red Violet and Bubble Gum. (Dyes were purchased from Dharma Trading Co.)

This next warp is Rayon and I used Gray, Bubble Gum, and Scarlet. I am not sure which weft to use for this one. I will have to experiment.

This next warp is Tencel and I went to the dye table and picked up two different colors at a time and dribbled a little from each bottle, then returned to the dye table and got a couple of different colors and then two more.... No rhyme or reason, just fun. I didn't even try to keep track of what colors I used. I think it's yummy.

The Woven Shibori scarves are still wet. I will have to wait until they are dry before I can pull out the resist threads. Stay tuned....................

Dye Workshop

At the Dye Workshop we had perfect weather. Warm, but not hot. Sun and not to much wind. I think a good time was had by all! I can't wait to see what gets woven with our painted warps and wefts.

Woven Shibori and Swedish Lace

It had to be done. I am in the dying mode and I love the look I get when I do woven shibori. So I will tie onto the Swedish Lace warp. It will be interesting to see how this draft translates to the woven shibori technique. I won't have this finished in time for the dye workshop (today), but I may find a color I like from the choices we will have that might work for this.

And with the help from my friend I will use 12/2 rayon with the 5/2 cotton as the resist thread.

So far I have counted out 150 ends. On the bottom peg I have counted out 50 ends and put in the green looper, 50 in red looper, and 5 groups of 5 ends around the end peg, which is really 50 ends. I am putting on a 6 yard warp. This draft has over 300 ends, so I will warp a little at a time between doing this and that.

UFO Progress

Finished the long-ago started orange, green, red, turquoise pair of socks. Now need to finish the blue pair. This is called Un Finished Objects progress!!

Which way do you vote? Stripes must match or not? If you are a Harry Potter Fan, you will go with me and Dobby and let the stripes fall where they may. I think it makes the fun sock colorways more fun!!
