Inkle Loom Workshop

It was a very lively and sometimes quite workshop where we were learning about pick-up inkle weaving. Anita had her hands full with 13 of us trying our hand at this awesome looking technique. But I think at the end of the day, we all got it!

Here is a look at all the fun!

Kelly Marshall Rep Workshop

WOW! Kelly came, she talked and demonstrated and we listened. We all just hope we remember what she told us. But she does have a great book to help us remember. We were blown away with her awesome examples. Some of the most beautiful ones were woven on only TWO shafts!!! Her color play is wonderful.

Kelly Marshall

Jane and Shirley C , I am loving their colors.

Carol has Kelly's book close at hand.

Barbara Z is really moving along.

Kelly demonstrating how to get great selvages.

Learning how to create a draft, figure out the threading, treadling and tie-up for Rep Weave.

This is my 'sample' place mat showing lots of different variations with this threading and tie-up that Kelly provided for the workshop. (I used my own color way.)

"Just Our Yarn" Workshop

The great thing about attending a workshop is that not only do you learn a thing or three from your instructors, but you learn from each other. Like...some have the thread from the bobbin come over the top while others have that thread come off the bottom of the bobbin in their shuttles....or.... some use lease sticks and then leave them in or take them out when weaving, others don't even own any.

Here is Tomi using a great trick. She has beads with numbers on them and uses them to keep track of her treadling. Check it out.

If interested is this great yarn, you will have to catch these ladies at your nearest conference or schedule them. Lots of great tips and tricks working with color and Tencel. Just search for "Just Our Yarn".

Check back from time to time as I hope to have more photo's to post later.

Workshop - Anyone?

I am excited to be attending a workshop put on by "Just Our Yarn" in early June. We are going to get to see some great yarns and have fun too! This will be a round-robin and my draft is an advancing twill. So I will get this party started....
I am winding the 20/2 tencel warp

I am using a dental looper to thread my 30 dent reed for 60 epi!

Dye Workshop

Never let it be said that the Divas let the grass grow under their feet for long. After the eciting and wonderful weaving workshop with Jason Collingwood, they turned around and had a dye party! They dyed tencel, silk, cotton, silk cloth, cotton cloth..... and a few other things I forgot to write down. Enjoy the color!

And while all that was going on, we also had show and tell...... and I only got a photo of one set of towels by Tomi. Diane and I brought our rag rugs, but I didn't get a picture to share with you. Just know that Diane's rug was outstanding!!

Jason Collingwood Workshop

The Springfield Fiber Artists and Drury College had the internationally famous Jason Collingwood come to Springfield Missouri for a three day rug workshop. Jason and his father Peter, are well know in the weaving world for their awesome rugs and shaft switching. I didn't get a photo of all the samples, but here is most of them. I understand the class was great, he was funny, and was able to talk to you at 'your level of weaving'. Signs of a great teacher! I was sorry to miss it!!

Another Rug - Blue Jeans

This is a blue-jean rug that was given to me as a gift from my students at Arrow Rock Weaving Guild this past February. Shows to go you that there is a real folk art to weaving these rag rugs.

A lot of work went into getting the jeans ready to even be woven let alone the actual setting up the loom and weaving. I proudly display this in my kitchen.
