One of the fun things about the holidays is all the parties that the guilds have. Food, exchanges, gifts, friendship... the list goes on and on.....
Here are a few 'small' things I have received over the years. I have plans for the two buttons, but haven't found the right time to use them yet. The bigger on is felted, the smaller is a bit of hand woven fabric.
If you have time, you might weave a bookmark or just crochet around a card from last year. Sometimes it is the small gifts we receive that stay in our hearts the longest. The tiny bear was knitted with handspun yarn. And how fun is the sheep? The paper weight is a wonderful way to display a bit of hand woven fabric.
Thanks to all my guild friends for such lovely memories!

Samples to Giifts
Here is another photo album using a piece of plain weave and a handmade button and beads. There are lots of different small items you can create using your left over samples. Right now, I seem to be creating photo albums.
I try to always do a sample of whatever I am weaving so I can put it in my notebook with my weaving notes. Sometimes, the samples are large enough that I can have a small sample and enough left over to make something with. Pin cushions are also great to make for gifts, take only a bit of fabric, and even if you keep them for yourself, you have a reminder of what you learned.

A Bit Of this-and-that
Just a peek at some of the fun we had at our Weaving Diva 7th Annual Christmas Party. (sorry-camera was misbehaving). There was much more show and tell and lots more awesome gifts exchanged. I was having so much fun I forgot to take some pictures and then others were to dark or to light......
The gift I received was a Tube Holder. It was just what I was needing for this project I am winding warp for. You can find a photo of it at weaversloft.com if you search on the words "tube holder'. Thank you Carol!!!!!

A Little Needle Work
Not much weaving going on here. I have been playing with some yarn, though. Getting ready for some quick gifts I might be needing next month!
Just some green yarn I saw in my local 'box store'. It jumped into my cart and so when I got home I needed to turn it into something. I have a granddaughter who likes hats.... maybe she will like this?

Another Rug - Blue Jeans
This is a blue-jean rug that was given to me as a gift from my students at Arrow Rock Weaving Guild this past February. Shows to go you that there is a real folk art to weaving these rag rugs.
A lot of work went into getting the jeans ready to even be woven let alone the actual setting up the loom and weaving. I proudly display this in my kitchen.

Secret Projects Unmasked
I am now able to share a couple of the secret projects I have been working on. Party Favors!!
One of my weaving guilds choose as it's theme for it's Holiday Party "OVERSHOT". We were asked that if we wanted to be part of a gift exchange, that the gift should be something made from an overshot draft. Several of us had worked on a two year overshot project, but some have little experience with overshot. So I came up with these overshot pin-cushions as party favors. So thanks to Sue Beevers and the Best Of Handwoven: A Baker's Dozen Top Projects in Overshot. (Interweave Press). This way, everyone will go home with something 'over-shot-y'.

Not overshot but still something for the party. These are about six inches long. They will be given to hostesses as thank-you gifts! Real simple. Use those leftover samples and cut hearts, sew, give!
I believe the sides that are showing are: turned taquete (red), plain weave (strips), summer and winter (green)!

Another Side Trip - Hearts
OK, I think I am putting a dent in my 'samples' basket. How about these cute hearts? They are different on both sides - the one on the left is showing it's taquete side and the one on the right is showing a plain weave side. They are poising on a handwoven towel by Dawn.
Over one again.
Under one, Over one,
Then we do the same.
Hi weavers! HO, weavers!
Come and weave with me!
You'll rarely find, go where you will,
A happier band that we!
My friend Becky found this little child's song/game from 1902. It was sung to the tune of
Nelly Bly, a popular song in the late 1800's.
Over one, Under one,Over one again.

Then we do the same.
