From a Sample to Finished Project

Here is a sample I did while exploring summer and winter polychrome. Just the right size for a photo album. I think this piece of fabric has been sitting around for a couple of years waiting for it's 'moment' in the light!

I have added a small 'sample' of kumihimo as accent to this album. So really, this is just a couple of samples of things I made while learning to weave summer and winter polychrome and kumihimo. Go check your samples and see if you are inspired to turn your samples into something. Or wait and see what the sample wants to be. Or....maybe it just wants to be a sample!

A Little Less Color

Playing around with some left over fabric. I think I wove this sometime last year. It is either Swedish Lace or Bronson Lace... they both go on the loom differently but look the same when off the loom. (the bit of background is overshot-it's a sample too!)

I have added some crochet snowflakes and distressed this to look like an old photo album. My photos are of some of the Weaving Divas. I am trying to get organized!

September Colors

Took a trip around the yard and discovered dye-pot envy colors. Mother nature sure knows how to blend colors together. Makes me want to wind some warps and put the dye pot on! Or create more woven Shibori to dye.

Yellow

Red

Brown

Gray

Orange

Green

Pink

OK, Just one more

Here is another woven Shibori piece that is finished. I really like how this tuned out. I have used a stamp to get the leaf-effect. Maybe there is more woven Shibori in the future???

Diva Challenge part 2

Now for the rest of the Diva challenge for 2015.... Besides doing a shadow weave project, I hope to do an eight shaft overshot project before the years runs away from me. Wish me luck!!

Linda has used Zephyr Wool and block twill for these luscious scarves. The drape is perfect.

Marty has used an 8 shaft advancing twill for this shawl. Click closer to see the great color play.
Missy wove this Krokbragd tote bag. Just awesome!!

Diva Challenge part 1

This guild, Weaving Divas, has a challenge each year. This month we shared some technique or weave structure we were working on. My contribution was my black/blue shadow weave pillow that I showed last month on this blog. So now, here are the others and what they have been up to!
Anita has been weave towels. I think she said she put on a 15 yard warp!

Anita shared an overshot project where she used her credit card to find her "name drafting" shafts.

Jan wove a chenille bath towel. It is super soft!

Janice used Huck lace to weave three bath mats.

Kathy had woven these overshot pieces a while ago, so now she was working on adding cording to the edges.

Marilynn wove turned taquete (turned summer and winter polychrome without tabby).

Mailynn is explaining the color sequence.

Rossanna blew us all away with this awesome Kumihimo necklace.

Tomi has used chenille and t-shirt knit to weave this 3/1 twill rug.

Tomi received the Grand Champion in weaving at the Ozark Empire Fair held in Springfield MO. Well done Tomi! Well deserved!!.... and check out her red blouse...... from thread to blouse!!

A Last Peek!

It has been fun working with Woven Shibori. Here is a couple of other examples. They are kitchen towels.
