Linen Weft

Now the strange thing about linen wound on a bobbin is that it want to spring off. When I took my class at John C. Campbell Folk School they showed me a neat little trick. You wind your bobbin, then get a wet wash rag, wring it out, and then wrap it around your bobbin. You want the linen moist, not wet. Of course one draw-back is that if you have to un-weave, it's not real easy. And don't try to wind you bobbin to full.

I am tensioned, treadles tied up and have the header woven. I think I am ready to get busy on weaving some fustian cloth. The warp is 8/2 cotton and the weft will be 10/2 linen.

Loom Ready.

OK, the table loom is ready to go to the Midwest Weavers Conference. Found the cart my DH (dear husband) made for me when I was taking my spinning wheel over hill and dell. It will be prefect for moving the loom from the car to the workshop area.

And if you click on the photo to enlarge it, you can see the 'sticks' I will take as a weft choice when doing my inlay work.

More Thinking!

Getting ready to go to a week long fiber conference is taking a lot of thinking. I will need to bring enough cloths to last a week, sheets, my loom and supplies, and personal products, and other stuff I haven't even tried to locate yet.

I will be staying on campus, so the beds are twin size. So haveto find some sheets and try to figure out what other items to take. The only thing I know for sure I will take is my camera.

I don't know if they will have internet access for us or not. So don't know if I will be able to do my daily blog. I do not have one of the 'new-fagled' phones, so posting that way is out. But for now, I continue to gather my 'stuff'.

Look for that in a fashion show!

More Dressing

While I continue to wind the fustian warp onto the big Macomber loom, I also am trying to get this Theo Moorman warp wound on my table loom. I do believe I need it ready to go by next Sunday. Yikes! I really am almost done. And (thank goodness) it's only a four yard warp.

Fustian Gets Busy

I know, it's about time..... I have started winding this fustian warp onto the back beam. So far, it is going very smoothly. It is a 10 yard warp.
